Allergy sufferers in particular should exercise caution.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Release prohibited:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Under no circumstances may ants be released into the wild in order to protect native and foreign flora and fauna. Releasing ants without official authorisation is a punishable offence under nature conservation legislation. We offer to take back old colonies free of charge.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Species identification: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ant species are identified to the best of our knowledge. In the event of subsequent changes, you have the right to return the colony.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Despatch of ants<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Delivery area: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Live animals are only shipped within the EU. They will be dispatched at the earliest possible date.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will be informed separately by e-mail.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Ant keeping<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Detailed husbandry information can be found in the product descriptions of the respective species.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Problems with keeping ants<\/b><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li><b> ant mortality &#8211; possible causes<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Water quality:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tap water can be toxic to ants due to chlorine or copper.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Recommendation: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use filtered or rainwater, not distilled water.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Substrate:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bird sand contains disinfectants that can harm ants.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Recommendation: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use our ready-to-use <\/span><b>floor bases <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">or untreated quartz sand and wash or bake beforehand.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Plants:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Live plants from DIY stores or garden centres are often treated with pesticides.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Recommendation: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use organic plants or plants from specialised terrarium shops.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alternatively, you can also use plants that have been kept in your home for at least a year without the addition of pesticides or fertilisers.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Cleaning:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Glass cleaners and chemical agents are harmful.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Recommendation: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use clear water cleaning or organic cleaner.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Formicarium construction:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Materials with solvents or antibacterial silicone are unsuitable.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Recommendation: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use solvent-free substances or aquarium silicone.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Feeding:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Preservatives and parasites in food animals can be harmful.
